Mystic Hot Springs
Updated: Jan 8
What
Mystic Hot Springs is a commercial hot spring in Monroe, UT. It is a pretty popular for *Instagrammable photos so it was at the top of my list when I planned my trip to Utah. For COVID, you need to book a reservation on their website. They only allow about 6 individuals during each time slot of 2 hours which feels safe in COVID times
Driving up, you have to park in their parking/ camping area and walk up to the entrance which is like 100 feet and a couple hundred more to get to the initial area. The vibe was very, creepy apocalyptic, which I think was purposeful. They have 5+ pools/ tubs. The first one is up the initial set of stairs near the building and the tubs are just up from there if you continue. With all of them, you can get some really great photos out of your visit. However, I found the grounds super creepy and kind of gross. I got set up for my IG shots, took them, and was out within 20 minutes of arriving. If you plan to hit Red Hill Hot Springs, you should book this for the experience/ IG shots and you can get a feel for if you want to stay or not.
Where
Mystic is in an itty bitty town called Monroe. It is about 2.5 to 3.5 hours South of Salt Lake City. It’s a really straight shot. Once you hit the town of Monroe, you turn left on E 100 N and it’s at the end of that street. This is a reservation only and they will send you any check-in info the day of.
When
As this is commercial, there aren’t any set bad times or reasons to go.
Why
I didn’t get the chance to really vibe with the upper tubs because of the other guests there but I felt like those were more of the vibe to relax and chill, as you would in a hot spring. I would recommend grabbing those first if you go. Each tub realistically only fits one adult but they are side by side if there are 2-3 of you. The pool that I stayed at is large but nowhere to really sit except on the ledge. So why go? I would definitely recommend it for some cool shots and you can get super creative in the area. You should go if you know you’ll be in the area visiting Red Hill or are passing through. This would not be my destination.
